Life coaching aims to help you achieve clarity and confidence to work through issues that are preventing you from enjoying a challenging and harmonious life. Life coaching is not about making simplistic judgments about someone's life and telling that person how they ought to live it or how to fix it. On the contrary, I coach clients using my guidance skills. This means that instead of telling you what is wrong or how to make it better I ask thought provoking questions that will encourage you to question areas that you have not thought about, this will inspire you to explore these aspects in more depth and develop a greater understanding of yourself. You will find new and exciting goals. I will support you in reaching your goals and we will build your self-esteem and confidence.
The majority of personal life coaches set out to fix your problem or fix what is wrong with you. I don't believe in that attitude at all. I believe that it is important to acknowledge and celebrate peoples individuality, this is why I believe that if a person is asked the right questions they will find the answers that are right for them. From years of experience this method does not work with people. What works for one person may not work for the next. I respect and utilize individuality this method produces results. All This said, I feel that effective, authentic coaching is based on the following principles:-
- a shared feeling of trust and empathy between client and coach
- a professional relationship of equality between client and coach;
- a desire on the your part to focus on the future, while acknowledging the effects of the past;
- a willingness by the you to work through challenging issues and towards empowerment, self confidence a happier, more productive life; an
- a belief in people's ability to understand and accept themselves and yet make changes that will improve their lives.
